Salvo, Mario,
and a family boat.
Salvatore Puglisi — Salvo to everyone — is a Lipari-born skipper. His father Mario sails with him. Father and son run the excursions together: two generations sharing the craft, the knowledge of currents and winds, the hidden coves others don't know.
The boat is called U Cammellu N'ammuratu — "the camel in love" in the Aeolian dialect — a traditional lancia of the archipelago, fully restored and cared for in every detail. Cushions across the deck, onboard shower, mini-fridge, max twelve people. She gets closer to the shore than a larger boat, close enough to read the colors of the seabed.
They work the way those who live on the island year-round work, not those who use it in summer. Every excursion begins with an onboard aperitivo — sparkling wine, homemade Malvasia delle Lipari, the arancini Mario prepares in the morning. The coves are theirs to choose, even in August: they know a few that stay empty even on Ferragosto. The rhythm is set by the sea, never by the clock.
Salvo is a man who deeply loves his land and transmits this passion whenever he can. — Ottavia F. · TripAdvisor
